Ready to be done...

Ok, I am officially ready to be done being pregnant!! I have had a relatively easy pregnancy all the way through-no major complications/problems/false labor, etc., no morning sickness really (except for 2 times), no bed rest-but NOW I am ginormous, uncomfortable, swelling, can't sleep at night due to being in the bathroom every hour on the hour and then being unable to find a comfy position to sleep in, can't get off the couch, in/out of my car without wanting to cry, don't want Bryan to touch me, walking around the mall for an hour does me in, and even my biggest maternity clothes are no longer fitting (and I'm not buying any more at this point!!). I'm sorry to complain, but I have to let it out!! I know the end of pregnancy is near, and I WILL miss feeling Caleb kick me, having him literally as close to me as possible 24/7, getting asked "when are you due?" and being told nice things by strangers like "you look gorgeous! you've got that glow!" but I will not miss the rest of the things I mentioned. I am quite blessed to have the summer to just lay around the house, watch TV, waste time online, etc. and not have to get up and go to work-I don't know how women who work all the way until their due date do it!! Bryan was joking with me last night as I was in tears about being so uncomfortable and said, "Is Caleb going to be an only child?" and I'm sure once he gets here I'll forget all the not-so-good-things about pregnancy and the love I will have for my baby will overshadow all of that, but let's just say, it will be a WHILE. And I don't want to be 8-9 months prego in the summer ever again! ;) 18 days until my due date, but less days than that to go if I do the scheduled c-section or induction...we have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and will talk to her more about that then. I am excited about the next chapter in my life!! It's all going to change, but I can't wait. Bryan is going to be the best daddy in the world, I just know it. He is so selfless and already loves this little boy so incredib ly much. Plus he is so confident when it comes to changing diapers, swaddling, holding babies that I know if I need a break he will be there to swoop right in and take over. God knew just what I needed when he gave me such a wonderful man as Bryan to be my husband and my babies' daddy. I can't wait to see the two of them together...

Update

Well, it's been a while since I blogged so I thought I'd update!! I am officially FULL TERM today!!!! Hooray! On Tues. I had my dr. appt/ultrasound and BOY did we get a shock. The u/s tech said that he weighs 9lbs 5oz as of that day!! Then the doc said she estimates that he'll weigh 10lbs at birth...WHAT?!?!?! So we are seriously looking into the scheduled c-section option, because:
1. That simply sounds painful. Period. I was preparing myself for a normal sized baby coming out the normal way, but 10lbs?? Ouch.
2. The doc is worried about his shoulders getting stuck in my pelvic region. Ouch, again.
3. The doc said there is a 50% chance we'll end up with a c-section anyway.
4. If it was scheduled, I wouldn't have to wait till my due date (July 18). Sounds like we could do it anytime after my next ultrasound, which is not this Tues but next.
So, we're praying and talking about it. The main thing to me is that Caleb gets here SAFELY. I have heard that u/s measurements can be off up to a pound or so, so there is a possibility he's not that big, but we need to prepare ourselves for it being the case.
In other news, Bryan got the ceiling fan up in the nursery last night!! Woo hoo!! I will take pics later but I must say I was VERY impressed...it was quite the project. Also, I got to go swimming at a teacher friend's house yesterday and it was heavenly....it's the only time I've felt light in 9 months! Aaahh....I could get used to that!

A great afternoon!!

Today I got a great surprise because Bryan ended up coming home at around 2:00 from his class over at the hospital! We went and got his car washed (inside AND out), got sweet teas from Chick-fil-a, ice cream from Baskin Robbins, and went out to Jacobson Park (without the dogs). We just laid on a blanket by the water and watched the ducks and relaxed...it was heavenly! I figure this might one of the last days we can just go and do something like that, just the 2 of us. Then we came home and grilled out (I LOVE summer!!!), I made these amazing chocolate chip cookies...seriously, they were AWESOME, Bryan took the dogs for a walk and is now assembling the ceiling fan. It felt like a very productive but relaxing afternoon. Over the weekend we steam cleaned the carpets in the whole house...we rented a steam cleaner from Kroger. It did a really great job, our carpets were GROSS mostly because of the dog hair/dirt. Now they look brand new! The nursery is looking more and more done, and I need to pack my hospital bag! Tomorrow I go for another ultrasound because apparently Caleb was measuring big at my last appointment. I don't know what it will mean if he is still "big" but I know I'm ready for him to get here. The getting up every 1/2 hour to pee at night thing is REALLY old. Plus it seems to take me an hour to roll out of bed...I feel like a whale! I also have been having nightmares about the birth/right after the birth that I don't care for. I will be 37 weeks (full term) this Thurs. or Fri. (depending on the ticker)...so anytime after that, Baby, you can make your appearance, really!!!

Carseat/stroller assembled!!!

Hooray! Our travel system is all put together, and the carseat is installed in the car, thanks to the fire station. (Did you know they will install it for you?) Now we just need the baby!

Bathtime with Bentley and Cooper!

What fun! This is how we (or I should say Bryan) gives the dogs a bath in summertime--SO much easier than the bathtub!!!

Guess Caleb's stats!

I found a fun game for everyone to participate in! You guess when Caleb will be born, his weight, height, etc. Take a guess!

One month away...

My due date is ONE MONTH from today!!!! I can hardly believe it. We got our car seat installed properly at the fire station this morning, so that's one more thing off the to-do list! Now we just need to pick a pediatrician and I need to pack my hospital bag. Also, Bryan is going to install a ceiling fan in the nursery, just because it gets SO stuffy in there without one. I am so excited but getting more nervous about the actual birth...I hope all goes well and I don't end up with an emergency c-section or anything like that. I can't wait to meet my little boy!!!

GRR to Golf!

Ok, so summertime is the only time I get to watch Dr. Phil...and what is on right now INSTEAD of Dr. Phil?? The U.S. Open...blah!!!! Really, who cares about golf when there is psychoanalyzing to be done? Seriously.

Nesting

I think I'm officially nesting. I have been washing/drying/organizing Caleb's clothes like crazy the past few days....why I feel the need to make sure his 9-12 month clothes are washed and hung up before he's even born is beyond me. But our nursery is really coming along! We have some more things to hang up, we need to get some shelves for his books and knick knacks, and are thinking about installing a ceiling fan. Now if only my feet would stop swelling, I'd be able to go run some errands without seriously considering a wheelchair to get around the store!

Laura's wedding

I am so excited! My best friend from high school, Laura, got married this weekend in Nashville!! We went down there and despite the sweltering heat it was beautiful and I am so happy for them. They're off honeymooning in the Bahamas, luckies! Here are some pics from the big day.

School's out...FOREVER! (well at least for the next few years!)

Well, I have one more day of "school stuff" to do tomorrow but then I am officially finished!! My room is cleaned out, my garage is now full of school junk, and Bryan survived the million trips up and down the 3 flights of stairs with all my junk!! I don't know how I would have done it without him. This morning the staff gave me a gift card to Target (yay!) and neat 9-frame picture frame that can be mounted on the wall, and they all signed the back of it with little messages to me. Very sweet!!! I got a little emotional then, but not too bad. I really am just READY to move on to the next stage in my life-mommyhood. I know I will go back to teaching at some point but for now, I want to meet my little one and spend as much time as possible with him. Kristin brought her baby (Evie) to school today while she cleaned out her room, and it made it SO real--she is precious and so little and I just can't believe I have a little one like that in my belly right now! We got the changing table pad yesterday and for some reason, putting that on the changing table made it seem more real. (We had been stacking random things there until then). I've been practicing saying "next month" when people ask me when I'm due...THAT seems nuts! I cannot wait, though. Really, I can't. We had our childbirth class last Sat. and it went really well...the lady who taught it was SO nice and funny and I feel like I learned a lot. It was fun to meet other women who are due the same time as me, too! It's just so hard to believe that it's JUNE! Wahoo!!
