BIG appointment day!!

So today I was at the doctor for about 3 1/2 hours! I had to drink that orange stuff to see if I have gestational diabetes (I won't know anything till tomorrow), have an ultrasound, have a regular appointment, AND get that shot for being RH-(it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...only a pinprick). Phew! The u/s went really well...I think he looks like Bryan! Don't worry, he doesn't have a crater in his skull, that is the placenta!! They were checking out his heart since he didn't cooperate so well the last time...and all looks good. He is measuring at 3 pounds, 3 oz., WOW! Bad news is, I have a yucky infection that is putting me in some serious pain, and I had just gotten over the same thing last week. I'm just hoping the medicine I'm on makes it go away soon.
I am very excited, however, because my school shower is on Thursday!! It will be my first shower and I can't wait!!! I know my staff will do something great. Now, if I can just make it to Thursday...

Dancin' at the Dentist

So yesterday I went to the dentist and it was SO great, because the whole staff was SOO excited to see me pregnant! I swear, those ladies were more excited for me than some people who I would expect to be excited for me, and it was so nice! They were all, "You look so cute!" "When are you due?" "Is it a boy or a girl?" etc. My hygenist wanted to talk baby the whole time. I told her that since it was 4:00, she was likely to get a "show" from Caleb, since he seems to be the most active around that time. And sure enough, while she was cleaning my teeth, he started dancing! She saw it out of the corner of her eye and said, "Wow! Looks like you've got a boxer in there!" and he did it the whole time. So cute and funny. The other good thing about this visit was that when we made my October appointment and she asked what time was good, I could say "I don't care!" because I don't have to make it work around my work schedule since I'll be home! With a 3 month old, wow!

I Love Grandparent's Day!

So, today was Grandparent's Day at school! Which means that all their grandparents came this morning, hung out in the classroom, took a tour of the school, came to a special chapel, etc. and THEN took them to lunch and HOME!!! I had ONE student after lunch. ONE!! We had a grand total of 8 2nd graders among the 3 classes, so we combined them all, had an hour long recess, and managed to go to TWO specials today (art and music). Awesome. Neither Melody nor I had a special on Monday due to a lack of subs, so this was a great way to make up for that. The only thing I wish is that today had been a Friday---that would have made it even better. But I really have no room to complain!
Also, I told Denny (principal) today that none of my shoes fit anymore and he said I could wear whatever is comfortable! So, WOO HOO to flip flops!! That made me happy, too.

Movement and A Fun Day

Wow, I feel Caleb kicking/moving ALL the time lately!! It's so awesome! Just had to share...I can actually SEE my belly moving, it's incredible.
Today we went to the Central Baptist Maternity Day/Baby Shower...it was CRAZY--so many pregnant women in one place!-- but we got a lot of free stuff. We registered to win prizes but, of course, won nothing! :( Some lucky girl won a $2700 nursery set (crib, changing table, glider, dresser, etc.) !! WOW! What I really hoped we'd win was the Graco Sweetpeace Glider/Swing...it's so neat, but kinda expensive...we didn't win it, although for a split second I thought we did because the girl who DID win it's first name was Sarah. Bummer!
We also took a tour of the maternity floor at CB...we haven't decided yet where I'm going to deliver-at CB or St. Joe East, but I really liked the look of CB today. Plus, they come around and do free manicures/pedicures for you! How cool is that?
I'm also stressing a little about pediatricians. Everyone keeps asking us if we've chosen one yet, and we haven't. I'm trying to gather recommendations from people I know and trust and then go from there. So many important decisions!!
Then, tonight Bryan stenciled Caleb's verse on the nursery wall. It is Numbers 14:24, condensed and in the Message version. I'll post pics once it's painted, but so far it looks AWESOME. I'm going to cry when we have to paint over it when we move!
Then tonight, I've been grading papers in preparation for entering grades for mideterm. Hard to believe we're halfway through the last quarter of school!! WOW!!!

Ah, the joys of pregnancy...

Today my back has been hurting SOO bad. I hadn't been having any back pain up to this point, so today was a shocker. I have to boogie to get my students to P.E. on the other side of the building on Mondays and I honestly didn't think I would make it today!!! I really am hoping this will not be an every day thing, because I still have 3 months to go! I'm also quite funny to watch when getting off my couch at home...Bryan has to pull me up! And getting in and out of the bed (it's pretty high up) is also quite difficult these days. Fun!
This weekend I went shopping for a co-worker's baby shower gift (she's due in May) and had so much fun. Really, any excuse to go to Babies R Us is good for me. She's having a girl, so it was fun to shop for girlie things. Girl clothes are SO stinkin' adorable! I had to exercise some serious self control and not buy anything for Caleb. On Sat. night Bryan and I went to church (awesome service) and sat with 2 couples from our life group and then went to El Chico for dinner with them. The BEST part of dinner was my awesome sopapilla I got for dessert. It was beyond delicious, covered in honey and chocolate. Yum!! I am seriously crossing my fingers I don't test positive for gestational diabetes because I have developed quite the sweet tooth during this pregnancy!

Less than 100 days!!!

Well, we officially have less than 100 days until we meet our little one! As of today, I have 97 days until our due date of July 18. I'm so excited, but nervous as this becomes more and more real to me! I'm more nervous about the actual birth than having a child to care for...mostly because I do NOT do pain well...I definitely plan on utilizing the modern miracles of medicine (a.k.a. epidurals) but it's the part BEFORE I get that epidural that scares me. I know the end result will be worth it, but the unknown scares me!
I AM excited, however, because I found out this week my work is going to be throwing me and another teacher who is due in May a joint shower on May 1!!! This will be my first one and I can't wait! This week the mom of one of my co-workers knitted me several pairs of adorable booties for Caleb...I'll have to post pics later...they are so precious...I hadn't even THOUGHT about booties/socks/etc. yet.
Another reason I'm excited that there are less than 100 days left until I meet my little boy is that that means WAY less days until school is out for summer!! (And for me, indefinitely!) WOO HOO!!! I AM going to be taking a graduate class in June (I might be crazy) just so I can be a step closer to finishing. I'll have 23 credits after that class, and I need 30 to graduate. I think I might try to take more next summer...I just want to be finished already--I've been working on it since 2004.
Hooray for the weekend!!

Spring Break!

Woo hoo! I love Spring Break! I haven't done much except relax yesterday and today, but that has been great. I like not having to be at everyone's beck and call all day long (Mrs. Boling, I need you! Mrs. Boling, he cutted! Mrs. Boling, she's not sharing! LOL). We got Caleb's room all painted, the crib and changing table set up, the border put up, and the dresser and chair moved in this weekend!! It looks so great. I will post pics as soon as I can. Bryan was SUCH a hard worker, I was so proud of him. I can't wait to have a little one to rock/change/watch sleep in that room...it's incredible to think about. It's my favorite room in the house already. I had my 24 week doctor's appointment yesterday and all was fine! My next appt. (Apr. 28) is the one where I'll get the RH shot, do the glucose tolerance test, and have another ultrasound done. After that I start going every 2 weeks! WOW! Caleb will be here before I know it...
