Here are some pics of our trip to the mall with Caleb's friend Braeden this week (he was born a month before Caleb). We had so much fun! We ate lunch and then played in the play area. Braeden's older sister loves to play "mommy" with Caleb, it was too cute. The other picture if of our adventures with mixing bowls and spoons...also very fun!

Before I Was a Mom
A girl who I went to high school with posted this on her blog, and I loved it so much I had to post it on mine!! Be prepared with tissues!
Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew how much I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
Every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy,
the love, the heartache, the wonderment or
the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom.

Valentine's Day Fun
Valentine's Day started out a few days BEFORE the big day when I received beautiful lily's at the house one afternoon!! It included a card with the verse from Song of Solomon 2:2 "Like a lily among thorns, so is my darling among the maidens." How sweet! We've been studying Song of Solomon at church, so it was very appropriate. :) Then yesterday before we went out we opened presents first and I got a card from Caleb and the dogs, a sweet card from Bryan, and a new PINK camera!! I think it is called Cybershot...it has 8.2 megapixels (my old one was 3.2), it has a HUGE screen (my old one was quite small!), and it is so little and skinny!! I LOVE IT!!!! My old camera had been starting to drive me crazy lately, and Bryan knew that, so, surprise! Oh, the other great thing is that it doesn't need batteries. I burn through them so quickly, so this is a great thing! Some women want jewelery, I am thrilled with a new camera! I already take a million pics of Caleb and now I'll take more! I can't wait to see the quality difference.
Caleb got some goodies as well. Grandpa and Grandma Christy in Texas sent him a Vermont Teddy Bear that is dressed up like a monkey! It is so cute! And it is really funny because I've seen the advertisements for those teddy bears every time I've gone to the gym on the TVs there! I'll have to take a picture with my new camera!! We got him a stuffed lamb from the Christian bookstore, where the proceeds went to help kids in an orphanage, isn't that cool? Grandma got him a cool puzzle book, a stuffed teddy bear, a cute card, money for his piggy bank, and some cute overalls.
I got Bryan a card, the movie "End of the Spear" which has special significance to us and our relationship, a bag of dark chocolate m and m's (ok on South Beach-in moderation of course!) and some special gum/mints he loves. We then went out to Saul Good for dinner (we had a gift card, woo hoo!) and did NOT adhere to the diet! I got a grilled chicken sandwich-hawaiian style-and fries-SO good!! We shared the chocolate fondue for dessert-yum yum-they bring you waffles, strawberries, bananas, rice krispie treats, and pretzels to dip in the chocolate (we got dark) and it.was.heavenly!!! So it is back to being extra strict on the diet starting today...or tomorrow...:)
We ended the evening with candlelight and dancing at our house while Caleb slept. I am so blessed to have Bryan as my husband. I fall more and more in love with him every day. He is truly my best friend in the whole world and I thank God often for answering my prayer for an incredible husband. Seeing him as a daddy is wonderful as well...Caleb is a lucky boy to have such a great daddy.
Hope you all had wonderful Valentine's Days as well!! :)

Update
Just a little update on life around here lately...Bryan and I went and saw "Wicked" the musical in Louisville last weekend (this was my "big" Christmas gift!) and WOW was it awesome!! We bought the soundtrack that night because we just couldn't wait. We ate dinner at the Spaghetti Factory afterwards which was really good because they have whole wheat pasta as an option. Speaking of that, the diet is going really well, too. I am pretty much down 2 pants sizes but am still wearing the bigger size because I'm not ready to spend money on my current size. Plus, I have weirdness going on with my body anyways since having a baby...I don't think I'd be confident to wear pants of that size just yet. I made myself go to the gym this week and hope that I'll now be in the habit to start going. I told myself, "I'm going whether or not Caleb is fussy/needing a nap/etc...it will be less than an hour, it will be fine" and it was! I also took him to storytime at the library this week and it was so fun!! I'm looking forward to doing that more as well.
Back to "Wicked"...I loved it so much, and a few days afterwards I had a revelation. I totally could write something like that. I KNOW I have writing talent...I always wanted to BE a writer, it's always come easily to me, I've had professors tell me I needed to write professionally, I have just always been unsure of exactly what path to take when it comes to actually doing it. I'm scared of getting my hopes up and failing I guess. But I feel like I'm wasting a talent God gave me because of my fear, which is not good. So...I guess I need to figure out what/when/how to do whatever it is I'm going to do! I just need some inspiration...
In other news, Caleb turned 7 months old today! He is such a big boy! We took him to the park and he swung on a swing for the first time-he liked it-and went down a slide with Daddy for the first time. The weather was a welcome relief from the ice storm of last week!! I can't wait to get out more as the weather gets warmer. However, it IS Kentucky, so I'm sure it could be snowing again in a couple of days. Come on SPRING!!!! :)
