A beautiful spring day

This afternoon was really nice and spring-y! We've been having some 80 degree days here lately, but today was more like spring, in the 60s. We went to a local memorial garden to let Caleb feed the geese and have a little picnic before church this evening. I'm trying to be better about letting Bryan take pics of me with the kids, so I let him today. They always make me look a million times better than I actually do. :) Oh, funny story...Caleb did NOT want to smile for the camera until I said the word "SNORT!" and then he laughed and laughed. I read him the book, Are You My Mother? yesterday and he thinks the SNORT part is hilarious. I just KNEW I'd get some good smiles out of him if I said it, and sure enough, it worked like a charm! Enjoy!

4 months old!

Molly Kate is 4 months old today!!! I can't believe it!! We are going to wait until closer to 6 months to start solids, but I find it crazy to think that she COULD start with cereals now! I'm hoping when we do start, that SHE will start sleeping all night. A girl can dream, right?!
Here are some pics from our 4 month "shoot" today:

At 4 months, Molly Kate has DEFINITELY discovered her hands. She chews on them CONSTANTLY. I keep feeling for teeth, but none yet, although it definitely seems like they are on their way with the amount of drooling this little one does! She has also rolled from her front to her back many times, and TRIES to do back to front, but no real luck with that yet. We are happily still nursing, with no supplementing at all. Awesome, right? But the bad news is, she will not take a bottle now. Not that she needs to very often, but in a pinch it would be nice. Nope. Oh well...I keep telling myself, this stage will go by so quickly, I can make it. Same with the sleeping. Eventually, she will sleep longer than 3 hours, right?! ;) She is also reaching out and touching/grabbing at things. She especially likes the little fox on her carseat. She has been enjoying being outside here lately, with the gorgeous weather we've been having. She likes facing out in the Bjorn, and we've been on several walks, trips to the park, etc. So fun. She is still in Size 1 diapers, and I would totally move her up to 2s but I need to use up this package first. :) She LOVES her big brother, and is always "talking" to him, giggling at him, etc. Oh yeah, she giggles now! So cute. I think she already has a preference for Mommy (sorry, Daddy) but most likely just because she knows where the "good stuff" comes from. She sometimes naps well in her crib, but sometimes not...she is good about car rides, and will sleep in the car, but doesn't usually make the transition from car to home staying asleep anymore, which makes me sad. :( We still have her with us at church, but I think we will be making the transition to the nursery soon. She is just too wiggly nowadays, and I am having a hard time staying focused on the message because I'm up and down with her so much. I've been dreading taking her to the nursery, to be honest, but I'm just praying God's peace over the whole thing. There's no point in my going to church and not even remembering what was said during the message because I was so distracted. I'm sure she will be loved on in the nursery. :)
That's all I can think of right now! She is a delight, and her smiles just continue to light up my day. Getting to dress her in summery dresses is making me so happy right now...love seeing those little legs and tootsies!

Ahhh...the weather in Kentucky!

So, for a while here in Kentucky we were getting super nice, unseasonably warm temps in February. We really haven't had a "winter" to speak of (and I am NOT complaining!). A few weeks ago, on a Friday, we had some pretty scary tornadic activity going on...we actually took shelter in a friend's basement. Students were even sent home early from school!  The evening in our friend's basement was fun for Caleb, because this friend has 3 kids of her own and a basement STOCKED with toys...he thought it was just a super cool playdate. :) Thankfully, no tornadoes touched down in our city, but they did nearby, and caused some crazy damage. :( It was a pretty scary evening for the adults who knew what was going on. And ok, so, the even crazier thing?? That following Monday we woke up to 5 inches of SNOW!!!! Caleb was SO excited. Schools were cancelled and everyone enjoyed the first real 'snow day' of the year--in MARCH! And then, 2 days later? 68 degrees and sunny. C-r-a-z-y! Here are some pics from our snow day.

These are just for fun...brother and sister cuteness. :)
