Not much new...random ramblings

I felt bad because I hadn't posted in a few days, but not much is going on here! Caleb is doing well--we're going for a weight check tomorrow...last time we went he was 10lbs 1 oz, so we're hoping he is more than that this time. I feel like he is eating ALL THE TIME, so I will be verrrry surprised if he hasn't gained weight. During the day he has been a little fussy and hates to be put down at all. But at night he has been sleeping very well, we've been blessed. Although I hesitate to say that because I'm worried I'm gonna jinx us! I was looking into buying a baby carrier like a sling or mei tai but the store in town is asking $100 for them and we just don't have that kind of money! We have a Baby Bjorn but it's not exactly conducive for walking around the house. Does anyone have advice on that? Today the 3 of us went to the mall, ate at the food court, walked around for a while, etc. until he got hungry and fussy. I saw lots of people I knew there! It was nice because it was so hot and humid today, going on an outside walk during the heat of the day was out of the question. I need to find friends who will go to the mall with me and walk around, because I have a feeling that will become a habit once Bryan goes back to work. Any other ideas for what to do to get out of the house (cabin fever!!!) when it's hot like it is right now??

First trip to church!

We went to church for the first time with Caleb this morning! He was very good. He was awake during most of the service, but just happily laid in Bryan's arms the whole time. The music made him very wide-eyed, it was sooo funny. Saw some friends there who thought Caleb was adorable, it's so much fun to "show him off!" The message was really great today, all about James 2, and "being the church" in our community. I love that we go to a church that is so focused on others. I love that we go to a church that Caleb will hopefully love going to. I can't wait until he's old enough for children's church!

How it's going

Things are going well here. Caleb sleeps for long stretches of time during the day-3 hours at a time-which is nice. He's still figuring out the nighttime thing, which is exhausting, but he seems to be an overall very content and easy-to-please baby. Fill his tummy, swaddle him, and he's happy. Yesterday we had to drive to Owensboro for Bryan's grandfather's funeral...3 hours each way...which really intimidated me, but he slept the WHOLE time there, during the funeral, and back. While we were visiting relatives he was content to let them hold him and fuss over him until he was ready to eat. I was SOO grateful because I envisioned 6 hours of screaming in the car...phew!! What a relief. Tomorrow Bryan is going to be gone to work at the hospital from 7-7...this may be his last time doing it, but I am a little worried about being home all day with Caleb alone. I know I probably shouldn't be, esp. after yesterday going so well, but I am. Bryan has SUCH a great touch with Caleb and sometimes I get intimidated by that. Tell me I can handle it on my own! Because I'm gonna have to here pretty soon! Anyway, just wanted to put in a little update. Can't believe he's already 2 weeks old. We go on Friday for a weight check and his 2 week appt. I'm praying his weight is up so the doc won't tell me we need to supplement with formula. Which reminds me, someone needs to be woken up to eat!!

Being a mommy...

I really am loving being a mommy...granted, Caleb doesn't do much right now--eats, sleeps, and goes to the bathroom basically, but I just LOVE being the one to feed him, hold him, love on him, etc. so much that I really don't even mind getting up in the middle of the night, or getting up early in the morning. That is saying a LOT coming from me, considering I am not a morning person in the slightest. Bryan is an incredible daddy, too...I don't know what I'd do if it weren't for him...he changes the majority of the diapers, gets me whatever I need, knows my medicinal schedule (it's quite involved!) and is just so sweet and loves Caleb so much. It is tiring, that's for sure, but I kinda expected that. I just can't wait to watch him grow and see what kind of boy he turns into. I don't want to wish this time away, though, because I know it goes so fast, according to other moms. God is so good to bless us with such a miracle.

Pictures of Caleb! Born 7/8/2008 at 9:45 a.m.

Emotionally exhausted....

Well, we are still in the hospital...and emotionally drained! I had my beautiful little boy on Tues at 9:45 am...all 11pounds 13 oz of him!! Yeah, wow, huh?? Glad we did the c-section for sure. He's now down to 11 lbs 2 oz. But there have been several complications along the way that have worn me out physically and emotionally. I didn't get to hold Caleb for 5 hours after the birth due to him having low glucose and fluid in his lungs...it seemed like I was NEVER going to get to hold him. But I finally did. But then it turned out that my blood pressure was too high to stay in the mother/baby unit and I had to be moved where they could monitor me more closely. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia AFTER the birth, which is weird because birth is normally the cure for it. I had to go on this drug called magnesium that made me feel pretty terrible. On top of the pain of the incision and everything, I thought I was never going to see the light! But I've been off IV"s and things for a few days now, the pain is getting less, Caleb is nursing great, etc. but my bp is STILL too high. And to top it all off, Caleb has jaundice and is under "the lights" 24 hours a day except for feedings. I miss having him right by me, it really sucks....I just want to go home with my new family...I have serious cabin fever and am tired of my bp/temp/etc. being checked all the time. Thank goodness Bryan gets to stay with me the whole time...I don't know what I'd do if he couldn't stay. So keep us in your prayers. I'm HOPING to be released tomorrow (Sat) but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high. I am so in love with my little boy and can't wait for everyone to meet him.

Tomorrow!!!

I can't believe I am going to have Caleb tomorrow! I am VERY ready, due to being extremely uncomfortable, but a little sad about no longer being pregnant. I am excited and a little nervous. Went today to have some blood drawn and talk to a nurse about everything that's going to happen tomorrow. She was very good at answering all my questions, and made me feel a lot better. I can't eat anything after midnight tonight, I have to take off my toenail polish (RANDOM!), shower tonight and prepare my belly with some kind of wipe that looks like a diaper wipe, and be there and ready tomorrow at 8am sharp!! Wow!! How I'm going to sleep tonight is beyond me--it's like Christmas Eve! I will update everyone (whoever reads this blog) as soon as I feel up to it...I can't wait for everyone to meet sweet little (or not so little!)Caleb Michael Boling!! Happy early birthday, little boy!

Tuesday is the day!!!

I am going to have my little boy this Tuesday--7.8.08!! I'm supposed to go the day before and fill out paperwork, get some lab tests done, etc. but then on Tues. I'm supposed to be in the Labor Hall at 8am to get ready for the c-section!! I am so excited, nervous, etc. but mostly excited to meet Caleb...I can't wait to see what he looks like, whose eyes/nose/mouth, etc. he has, how big he REALLY is, and just to hold him in my arms. It seems surreal that you can go from one day NOT being a mom to the next day BEING a mom. Like it's the most normal thing in the world. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

My AARP membership...

So yesterday in the mail I got an AARP card and offer to join for only 12.95 for a year!!! WHAT?!?!?! Mind you, this is the same mail in which I get free formula coupons and Babies R Us catalogs. Hillarious. I guess having a baby makes me officially "old", but really? Does this mean I get the senior discount at the movies? Becuase that WOULD be nice...
Still no date for the c-section. I will update as soon as the doctor's office gets their act together!

Next week!!!

I don't have an official date yet, but it seems that Caleb will be making his grand entrance into the world next week! Bryan and I decided to go the c-section route, after talking to many people (medical, mommies, etc.), praying, etc. So yesterday at my appt., my OB asked us when we wanted to do it! She was ready to do it this Fri. (the 4th) but I'd have to have an amnio done because I would not be 39 weeks yet. I didn't really want to go that route so I said I was fine with waiting till next week. We're shooting for Tues, but who knows what will end up happening!! Of course, this is all as long as he doesn't decide to come on his own before then! :) I am a little nervous but very excited!! Not long now!
