We had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year. We went to church in the morning-(GREAT service)-and relaxed at home most of the day, but that night, as I got Caleb ready for bed, Bryan started cooking our dinner. He made a DELICIOUS 4 course meal for us...and he even MADE our menus on our new fancy schmancy printer...so sweet! We had bruschetta for an appetizer, caprese salads, seafood pasta, side salad, and my red velvet cake I made for dessert, along with chocolate dipped strawberries. We also had a Biltmore Winery Reisling wine...which is very special to us because we visited the Biltmore on our 1 year anniversary and did a wine tasting while there, and brought home a bottle. We
rarely drink, so this was a nice treat...and SOOO good. Like I said, I made a red velvet cake--the Pioneer Woman recipe--and it TASTED incredible, but LOOKED horrible...I cried and cried. I must not have sprayed enough on the pan, because it fell apart as I was transfering it to the cake pan, and when I frosted it...well...it was bad.
After dinner, we watched "The Time Traveler's Wife"...which I had SO been looking forward to, but it was a little bit of a disappointment. I do want to read the book now, though. It was wonderful to just relax and enjoy the time with my wonderful husband. The "14 Days of Valentine's" this year was just incredible...and he topped it off with flowers, a huge balloon, an incredibly sweet book and card, and the promise of a new camera before our family vacation in May. (My camera's zoom is broken and I am just DONE with it!)
Here are some pics of the wonderful dinner and Caleb's little Valentine's Day goodies:
