5 Months Old!

Molly Kate turned 5 months old this week! It's hard to believe it's almost been half a year since she joined our little family. Her little personality is coming out, more and more each day. She is generally a very happy baby, with fussy times when she's overtired or hungry. I can pretty easily take her out and about without worry that she'll become inconsolable...and one of the nice things about nursing is that her food source is ALWAYS with her! ;-) I really am so happy that we've made it this long with breastfeeding. It seems to be becoming easier each day, as she is getting more efficient.
Some new developments lately:

She rolled from back to front this week!!

We put her in the church nursery a couple weeks ago for the first time! She didn't do great the first week, but did better the next week. I went up to get her and she was asleep in one of the swings. :) I've been leaving her in the nursery at BSF for awhile now, but really wanted to hold off on it at church until absolutely necessary. She is becoming a lot more wiggly so it was time.

She has had oatmeal cereal and bananas! I wanted to hold off until 6 months, but the doc gave me the go ahead to start since she's still up every 3 hours at night. Doesn't seem to be helping much with that, but she is definitely enjoying her food. I made the bananas myself with the Baby Bullet! So fun!

She has discovered her feet and toes. So cute.

She literally cannot keep her eyes off of Caleb when he's in the room. She worships the ground he walks on, and makes happy noises she makes for no one else for him. Love it. He loves her, too. He's always quick to pick out a bow for her, help me with her, etc. He was so upset when she got her 4 month shots--so concerned about her boo boos. He has such a sweet heart.

I *think* she's reaching out for me and realizes when someone else is holding her who is not me. Let the fun phase of separation anxiety begin! ;-) Daddy has his feelings hurt that she always seems to want me, but I reassure him that it's probably not ME she wants as much as it is her food source. :-)

She hasn't pulled any bows out of her hair yet, and I take this as a small victory, since she's grabbing at many other things. Caleb gets very upset if she's not wearing a properly coordinating bow with her daily outfits. He's going to be such a good daddy someday!

She actually enjoyed her bath the other night which is a huge improvement from screaming bloody murder every other time. I think she'll be like Caleb and start to enjoy her baths more when she can sit up unsupported without a baby bathtub.

I can no longer wear my hair down or earrings unless I want to be in some serious pain when I'm holding her. ;-)

She is sleeping in her crib instead of the Rock N Play. Still waking every 3 hours, and still ending up in bed with me sometime during the night, but for the MOST part, she'll eat and fall back asleep. Someday she'll sleep all night, right?!?! Her naps are still not as consistent as I'd like, but it all depends on the day and if we're out and about or home.

Everywhere we go, she makes new friends with her big smiles and giggles! Love her!! :)

Here are some recent pictures:

Enjoying her bath the other night

Jumping in the Rainforest Jumperoo! Her feet don't quite touch the ground, but she still loves it.

First time trying solids! Oatmeal cereal with "mommy milk"

She wanted to do it herself. :)

 Loved loved loved it!

 5 month picture time!

They ADORE each other.

Easter 2012

We had a great Easter this year!! We dyed eggs on Saturday afternoon, and it was the first year that there was no drama, tears, huge mess, etc. and it was just plain fun! Molly Kate enjoyed watching all the fun. :) We went to church on Sat. night to avoid the craaazy Sun. morning crowds, but it was still really crowded. Great service, but I was up and down with Molly Kate a bunch, since I decided not to put her in the nursery that night, so I was a bit distracted. Sunday morning we had a quiet morning at home, opening Easter baskets and letting Caleb eat WAY too much chocolate for first thing in the morning!! :) His favorite item from his basket was a new umbrella. He also got bubbles, sidewalk chalk, a new Bible, candy, and a bunch of other little things. We got MK a Bible, a cross to hang in her room, a super soft lamb that plays Jesus Loves Me, and a couple books. We got dressed and went to visit my mom so she could see them in the Easter clothes. She hid some eggs for Caleb and he had fun looking for them. Then we went over to my dad and Christy's house for the rest of the afternoon. Ate, Caleb hunted eggs, went down to the creek, had fun visiting everyone. Kelsey and Cody (stepsister and hubby) were there and it was fun to see her cute little baby belly holding my nephew! Can't wait to meet him in August. My brother and sister in law were there also, and they find out in about a week what they are having! Can't wait to find out! Molly Kate was a little thrown off by the schedule change, being in a different place, etc. but did pretty well overall. Caleb was WORN out by the day's end, and actually slept all night until almost 7:45 which is unheard of for him, especially since he went to bed at 7! Happy Easter! He is risen!!!

Easter Bunny Pics

This week has been a BIG one!! Our Kentucky Wildcats won their 8th National Championship in basketball on Monday, so on Tuesday, several businesses were running some special deals. We got 16 free chicken nuggets at Chick-fil-a and we each got 5 oz free Orange Leaf frozen yogurt. Yum! We enjoyed those great deals, and also took the kids (!) to see the Easter Bunny and live bunnies at a local shopping center. Caleb wanted NOTHING to do with the big bunny this year (can you blame him?) but loved the live bunny...a big, fat, white one this year! I think Molly Kate enjoyed how soft the big bunny was...she was all smiles.  Enjoy the pics.
